I think it is very possible to be single and abstain from sex just as much as I believe it is possible to be in a relationship with someone and abstain from it. I personally think it all has to do with your mindset. If you don't make it a mandate to yourself to keep God's commandment to keep yourself pure before marriage then of course you will be weak because you haven't stood firm upon the Word of God to stay true to His word. By no means is this easy,especially since God created us to have this desire, but at the same time He didn't create it for us to "use" at our own disretion, but within the confines of marriage.
I heard a quote one day that said "Sex is more important and less important than what society makes it" and I couldn't agree more. Sex is more important than what society makes it because it creates a bond between a man and woman that can't be broken with the ending of a relationship and also creates spiritual ties which is more in depth than most people know about. However, sex isn't so important that it should be completely exemplified and blown up by society. It's something that is provate and should be kept the two people that are involved period.Not them and their girlfriends or guy friends..that's just inappropriate and to be honest TMI.
Anyway to sum that all up yes it's hard to abstain from sex, but it is something that can be done..I mean you can't miss something you never had
